Winter 2015

Weather news from anywhere east of Vancouver is cold, snow, ice, wind, and repeat. Ugh. Here in Lalaland, so far, the winter of 2015 is better than benign. We've got rhododendrons, daffodils, heather, early cherry trees, viburnum, and snow drops in bloom. The grass is about ready to cut and the magnolia buds are getting fat. It'll only take a cold snap to send everything back to sleep and we may have a terrible spring but, for right now, it's bliss.

Jim and I went to Vancouver for a few days in January just because we like to do that occasionally. We stayed in an apartment hotel in the west end, half a block to Stanley Park, about 4 to English Bay and 2 1/2 to Denman Street. It was a Travelzoo deal for $81 per night including parking so how could we not. The one bedroom (full kitchen!) unit was nice, not new but in good condition and it's a great location.
Yes, that is a full sized tree on that roof. Enormous.

it was about 12 degrees
a good bit of sitting was interspersed with the
 many kilometers we walked.

We helped Jamie with some work in his condo, walked the seawall, saw good friends, and had some good meals. All in all a nice getaway. There are two caveats: Jim picked up the plague and still hasn't shaken it and I made my first ever 911 call when we thought we heard gunshots directly outside our bedroom window. If you "friend" me on Facebook you know all about that one.
As the photos show, we had perfect weather, again.
